A familiar song plays on the radio
I can feel the very tug on my soul.
I must follow. It points the way.
It will lead me back
I know I shouldn’t, and still I try
Life has taken me down a different path
But still I try
The floodgates have opened and I am adrift
Carried on the current, snatched by the vicious undertoe
Propelled, unfettered, toward the rocky shore
I turn off the radio and embrace the silence
The reverie is broken and I find the scenery unchanged
Calm sets in and I am certain
Though I may be tempted, I can never find the way back
You were right….. Of course!!!!
I shall listen

Well….sometimes I don’t listen, so I can’t really hold anyone to that standard. 😉

Ha ha ha! It sure wasn’t! But I can understand why that song would make you cry.

I absolutely enjoyed reading The Way Back. Beautifully written.
I think this poem should be the one you read.
