The 2018 CBC Nonfiction Prize Longlist came out today.
I was not on the list. That part stung a bit.
I wrote very recently about how personal CNF can be, so to pull the guts out, put them on display, and be passed on kinda hurt.
But it only hurt for a moment. I had submitted 2 stories in a competition that had received over 4000 entries in English and French, and of those 4000, only 30 made the Longlist. From there it will be whittled down to three, then finally to one.
Some pretty fantastic stuff made the list and I encourage you to check them out on CBC’s page.
In the meantime, I will keep at it, and will definitely submit something for consideration next year.
Right now, I need to focus on the 2018 Fiction Prize, which just opened for submissions September 1st. Maybe, just maybe, I’ll make the Longlist. I’ll let you know…next spring.
I’m glad that in 2020 – that you are still keeping at it!!
