What does it take?
Everything.
All that you have.
All of the time.
Here I sit, trying to justify. Rationalize.
Make peace
And you – there. No heavy lifting.
Eager to accept anything I say.
I almost feel bad,
If it weren’t for the hole in me where those things used to go.
So, I make the sounds
To me – Hollow, Empty
To your ear, they ring true. You’re safe.
There will come a time when the load is laid at your feet.
Will you do the same for me?
Wow, what an excellent post! This is expertly written and really captures the idea of personal strength. It’s the sort of poem to read when you’re feeling down or in need of a gentle reminder to press on! I’ll certainly be reading it in the future. I look forward to your future posts!

I’m not so sure that it is uplifting. I found it a bit dark. Sad, really. Did I read this wrong. Definitely eloquently written. Beautiful in its own way.

I suppose it is in the eye of the beholder, as are most things.
Thank you for your comment.
